This little pattern, which I’m calling Fill #87, really gave me a run for my money this afternoon. It’s one of those ideas that sounds straightforward in your head, but getting your hands and feet to actually agree is a different story.
The tricky part for me was a quick triplet between the kick and the snare that just felt… clumsy. My foot kept wanting to rush the beat. I spent a good while just looping that one section at a snail’s pace, trying to get it to feel natural instead of forced.
It’s not 100% there yet, but after a lot of repetition, it’s finally starting to click into place. It’s always a good feeling when you can push through a little practice wall like that and come out the other side with something new you can use.
