I was out in the garden today, just minding my own business and pulling up some weeds, when I saw this absolute unit of an insect. I’m not going to lie, my brain immediately jumped to all those wild news stories from a few years back, and I had a brief moment of panic thinking I’d found a ‘murder hornet’ right by my tomatoes. After I took a breath, I crept a little closer to snap this picture. I still have no idea what it is, but it was a pretty wild interruption to an otherwise quiet afternoon. Just a little reminder that my garden is home to more than just plants.
